Josh Hopewell is a partner in EcoArmor Pest Defense and has worked in pest control since 2013. He is licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture under licence #0783071.
Thirteen years in pest control
Josh entered the industry in 2013, when he and his brother John bought a company called Integreen Pest Control and rebranded it as QuickSumo Pest Control. They ran QuickSumo until 2020, when it merged with EcoArmor Pest Defense, the company their brother Jordan had founded in 2017. The three brothers have run EcoArmor together since.
Before pest control: reading buildings
Josh learned the roofing trade as a child working alongside his father and entered the industry professionally in 1997. He worked as a licensed home inspector, then founded Rainy Day Restoration and Roofing in 1999, initially offering roofing, gutters and property inspections. The company later expanded into repairs and remodeling, added water damage restoration in 2013, and introduced licensed mold remediation in 2017. He remains a co-owner there.
Over that career he has inspected thousands of properties, which means a good deal of experience identifying roofing failures, water intrusion and other structural problems.
Why that matters on a pest job
Most pest problems are downstream of something structural. A crawl space that holds moisture brings roaches and gives termites an easy path. A roof or gutter failure soaks a wall cavity. Soil movement opens a gap along a slab that ants and crickets walk straight through. Someone who has spent decades finding water intrusion for a living tends to look for that cause first, rather than treating what is visible and returning in three months.
To be clear about what is what: the roofing, inspection and mold remediation credentials belong to Rainy Day Restoration and Roofing, not to EcoArmor. They are relevant background, not pest control qualifications. Josh’s pest control licence is the Texas Department of Agriculture licence listed above.
Outside the business
Josh and his wife Jeni have been married since 1996. They have three sons and three daughters and live in Bonham, Texas. He is active in local business organizations, community service, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
