Pest Control Services in McKinney, TX

EcoArmor Pest Defense treats homes across McKinney, Texas, from our office at 279 Highview Ln in Anna. Family-owned, veteran-owned and licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture, running our own technicians rather than subcontracting to a regional partner. McKinney is the most varied city we work in — a house off the downtown square and a house off Custer Road are different buildings with different weak points, and treating them the same way is how people end up on a plan that never quite works.

What Makes Pest Pressure in McKinney Different

Two housing stocks, one city

McKinney has one of the largest historic districts in Texas, with homes dating to the 1880s and whole streets of 1920s–1950s cottages, while the west and north sides are still adding new slab construction. Those are two different pest problems. A pier-and-beam house has a crawl space, a ventilated underside and decades-old sewer laterals; a three-year-old slab has none of that but has a foundation still moving in clay. Most of what we do in McKinney starts with working out which house you actually have.

Wilson Creek and 3,000 acres of open space

Wilson Creek rises east of Celina and runs about 23 miles southeast, passing under US-380 and US-75 and through McKinney before meeting the East Fork of the Trinity at Lavon Lake. The city keeps roughly 3,000 acres of parks and open space and around 80 miles of hike-and-bike trails, including the 10-mile Wilson Creek Trail. That is a lot of homes backing onto green space and drainage that holds water after a storm — which is a mosquito breeding cycle, and a corridor rodents and other wildlife travel along.

Blackland Prairie clay under all of it

The whole county sits on expansive black clay that swells when it rains and cracks when it dries. On a slab that movement opens hairline gaps at the slab edge, around plumbing penetrations and behind brick weep holes. On a pier-and-beam house it shifts piers and opens the skirting. Either way it is the most common entry route we find, and it is seasonal — the gaps are widest at the end of a dry summer.

A county seat, with a county seat’s commercial density

McKinney is the Collin County seat and the second-largest city in the county at around 230,000 people. That means a working downtown of restaurants and mixed-use buildings, multi-family, and older commercial stock — shared walls, shared utilities and shared problems, where treating one unit and ignoring the building next door does not hold.

Every Service We Offer in McKinney

Why McKinney Homeowners Choose EcoArmor

  • We treat the house, not the postcode. A 1920s pier-and-beam cottage and a 2022 slab need different work. Being told which one you have, and why it matters, is the whole service.
  • Owner-run. Three brothers run EcoArmor. The person who answers the phone can make a decision about your account.
  • Our own technicians. Pest, termite, mosquito, rodent, exclusion and insulation under one plan and one technician who learns your house.

McKinney Pest Control Questions

Is EcoArmor based in McKinney?

No. Our office is at 279 Highview Ln in Anna, just up the highway, and we are straight with people about that. McKinney is a service area we drive to. If you want a company with a storefront in McKinney, we are not it — what we offer instead is an owner-run local outfit that knows the difference between your side of town and the other one.

Does my historic-district house need different treatment?

Usually, yes. A crawl space, ventilated skirting, original sewer laterals and a mature tree canopy give pests routes a slab house simply does not have. It also means crawl space moisture is a live issue here in a way it is not in the newer parts of the county.

We back onto a greenbelt or the creek. Is that worse?

It is different, and usually more. Lots backing green space, a trail corridor or drainage see more mosquito, rodent and stinging-insect pressure than interior lots, and they generally need a shorter interval than a standard quarterly schedule covers.
